The Bakery Life: Holiday Cookie Decorating at Flour & Co

12 Dec

As a through and through holiday traditionalist, baking and decorating cookies is on the top of my festive to do list every year.  It’s a tradition that runs deep, started by my Mom when my sisters and I were little.  Each year, we’d study our cookbooks and get out the family favorite recipes in preparation for a full day of baking.  By the end of our day, we’d have at least half a dozen different kinds of cookies to take us through the month, as well as stomach aches from taste testing as we went along.  Lucky for us, our garage was a huge freezer (I hail from Minnesota where everywhere without heat is a natural freezer in the winter), so we could store our cookie stock in safe keeping for whenever we wanted a little taste of the holidays.

This year, Flour & Co took holiday cookie baking and decorating to a new level!  We hosted a number of cookie decorating parties with freshly baked sugar cut-out cookies, natural frosting and sprinkles, all of the supplies, snacks, and bubbly (we don’t mess around).  We had a blast hanging out with old and new friends, just having good, old-fashioned fun and festive conversation.  What a great way to get into the holiday spirit.

Though the parties are over, we have some pictures to share, perhaps some inspiration.  There are still a few weeks left in December fit for cookie baking!

Happy Holidays!
